The Walsall TUC, works to protect the status of the teaching profession and deliver real improvements to teachers' and school leaders.
A delegate had the privilege of attending the National TUC Conference 2025, where trade unionists from across the country gathered to discuss, debate, and shape the future of the trade union movement.
Shahin Akhtar, Secretary of Walsall TUC shares:
''The conference covered key issues including youth engagement, fighting the far-right, public services and austerity, climate and artificial intelligence and international solidarity. It was encouraging to hear from a wide range of voices, highlighting both national priorities and grassroots concerns. We also heard from Mike Masters, a representative from the bin workers strike in Birmingham.
The energy and unity at the conference were clear reminders of our collective strength. I return to our branch re-energised, with ideas, insights, and a renewed commitment to continue our vital work locally.''
